Gone are the days I’d strive to or pretend to be cool. If it’s not convenient and/or comfortable then I’m not interested. Maybe I take convenience too far. I am a proud owner of a minivan. There is not an ounce of shame I have in utilizing magical vehicle doors that open with a press of a button in my hands while arms are full!
When I started running, I was curious where to put all the crap I needed. Arm bands are fine for the gym or treadmill when you just need a music playing device, but I require many more items on an outdoor run.
- I wish I had the spitting skills of a lot of runners. I’d hock a loogie with pride! As a phlegm release failure, I am a snotty disaster ripping kleenex’s out of where ever they could be stashed for a trumpet sounding disembarkment from my head.
- I’m running mouth open while saliva vaporizes from my mouth drying the lips. I need chaptstick for comfort is everything!
- If I’m not running at home, I need keys to the vehicle.
- Lastly, I must have a cell phone. Not only is this required for music, but also for GPS to map my run and tell distance and speed, a drill sergeant to yell at me to go faster and a lifeline. I don’t want to die! I’m running for health. If I break something or a body part gives out, I need to make a call. I’m not a spring chicken anymore.
Kleenex, chapstick, keys and cell phone won’t naturally tuck into my skin tight attire that leaves no room for giggling. On a mission to make running more convenient, I started researching what contraptions I could wear during. The answer seemed to be a running belt. This doesn’t sound too bad, but in reality it is a fanny pack. While I’ve bent in all other areas for convenience, I was not ready for the fanny pack bandwagon. Reluctantly, I hoped on board.
I have no regrets and will continue to sport my very stylish running belt whenever needed. I even wore it to soccer practices and games that I assisted coach. Seriously, I have no limits and my kids will be utterly embarrassed by me someday.
During cold weather running, I started using a vest with zip pockets which was really convenient too. I now have a thinner vest and running jacket with zip pockets as well. I’ll have no excuse to not get moving with all my luxurious gear.
The fanny pack was so amazing I bought myself another smaller one, two of my sister’s one and my husband one. Now they all have one less reason to not run with me. Go get yours today!
